David Carson (born September 8, 1954) is an American
graphic designer, art director and surfer. He is best known for his innovative
magazine design, and use of experimental typography. He was the art director
for the magazine Ray Gun, in which he employed much of the typographic and
layout style for which he is known. In particular, his widely imitated
aesthetic defined the so-called "grunge typography" era.David also
has a very famous piece of work using pepsi as a way to present text in a
modern way I had a go at recreating his work in photo shop using a modern pepsi
cup I thought this worked well it also ties into my work as Carson is also
known for the way he uses text from newspapers I have created many types like
this my self in my sketch book and in my second sheet.
